Anne McCarthy,a graduate of UCC and TCD, has many years’ experience teaching counselling skills to counsellors, health and social care professionals in relation to an unplanned pregnancy that has become a crisis. A qualified group analytic psychotherapist and adult education teacher Anne is lead facilitator for the Masterclass Programme developed and delivered by Maynooth University.
The aim of this workshop is to provide an opportunity for IACP members explore and practice counselling skills to respond when an unplanned pregnancy that has become a crisis emerges in the counselling session, in some instances this can be a termination that occurred sometime in her past.
At this workshop, participants will explore the importance of
• The legal social and cultural context of crisis pregnancy
• Contract setting, boundaries , trauma and informed decision making in the context of a crisis pregnancy
• Explore the impact of a current crisis or one sometimes referred to as post abortion counselling
• Have an opportunity to practice the skills of responding to a client presenting with a crisis pregnancy from her current life or her past
CPD Certs will be emailed to participants after attendance at the Workshop
