Anne has a BA in Counselling & Psychotherapy, Certificate in Practitioner Skills in Eating Disorders, BA in Psychology, Diploma in Integrative Adolescent Psychology. 20 years’ experience in working with Eating Disorder clients, first with The Eating Disorder Resource Centre of Ireland, then privately, and now with the Eating Disorder Centre of Cork (since January 2022). As well as working as a therapist with the EDCC, she has been co-manager of the centre since September 2023.
Caroline has a Diploma in Applied Social Studies, BA in Applied Social Studies, Certificate in Reality Therapy. Has worked as a therapist with the EDCC since 2012 and has worked as a clinical manager in the centre since November 2022. She has worked with all age groups with eating disorders but has specialised in working with young adolescents in the past few years.
An overview of what we mean by disordered eating versus eating disorders. Recognising that we are dealing with very serious mental health conditions that also have a physical impact and how this should be managed.
The importance of working as part of a multi-disciplinary team and how the therapist fits into this team. How eating disorders present and possible outcomes. High-level overview on how to treat disordered eating/eating disorders from a therapeutic perspective, and what needs to be managed from a medical perspective (GP-led but with therapist and dietitian input).
We will also give an overview of our service and how the EDCC can support therapists working privately with these clients
