Eoin is a leading counsellor/psychotherapist and lecturer/trainer, who has worked in the area of mental health for over 30 years, specialising in an Integrative approach to Cognitive Behavioural Therapy. He works in private practice in Dublin and Sallins, and lectures at PCI College, where he previously held the position of College President. In 2010 he was awarded the IACP’s Carl Berkeley Memorial Award. He has a particular interest in the area of behavioural addictions, and in the relationship between addictions and other mental health problems such as anxiety and depression.
When we think of addiction, we usually think of alcohol and other addictive substances. However, certain behaviours are also potentially addictive, and are equally of concern nowadays, especially because of the way they can be facilitated by the internet.
Social media are a relatively new concern, as is gaming, and both will be discussed in this seminar. But other behavioural addictions which we will look at are a much older part of human experience, though they have been given a new lease of life by the internet; for example, shopping, gambling, work, and of course porn and other types of sexual stimulation.
CPD Certs will be emailed to participants after attendance at the Workshop
