WNWRC Workshop - Working effectively with clients with addiction

Presenters Bio:

Dr. Shane McGuire is Counsellor/Manager of the HSE Community Healthcare West Drugs Service. The service provides a free, direct access range of supports to substance misusers and those affected by substance misuse. In addition, Shane also maintains a private counselling and supervision practice. Shane’s interests include cycling and hillwalking. Shane is a long serving member of Mayo Mountain Rescue Team and is currently Team Leader.

Workshop Outline:

Each segment will consist of theory overview followed by small group (dyads/triads) discussion/feedback/practice. The emphasis will be on getting participants to critique aspects of addiction (theory, practice, etc.) and enabling them to have practical ways of working with addictions in their counselling practice. It will be highly experiential with a solid theoretical basis.

CPD Certs will be emailed to participants after attendance at the Workshop

Please note:

IACP will continue to monitor the situation about the Coronavirus and will adhere to any further recommendations issued by the HSE and/or the National Public Health Emergency Team.
Our IACP planned events will continue but we do ask any attendee, if they have recently returned from an affected area, that they do not attend these events, and to follow the advice of the HSE here.
