DRC Workshop - The Business of Therapy

Presenters Bio:

Jude Fay, is an accredited psychotherapist and supervisor, practicing in Naas and Celbridge, Co Kildare. She is also a Chartered Accountant. In addition to her private practice work, Jude helps therapists develop and manage their practices. She is the author of the book, “This Business of Therapy: A Practical Guide to Starting, Developing and Sustaining a Therapy Practice.” Jude works with both the practical business aspects of therapy practice and the emotional and psychological blocks that get in the way of creating a financially viable practice.

Workshop Outline:

This workshop covers three areas

1) Setting up a practice - Providing support and information to therapists and counsellors who are setting up or have recently set up in private practice. Helping practitioners get started by identifying the essentials. We will explore the practicalities of starting a practice, envision the practice you would like to create and the services you will provide. You can begin to identify your preferred clients and the channels through which to attract them
2) Marketing your Practice - Jude outlines the principles and tasks of marketing a private therapy or coaching practice. She offers participants an understanding of the basics of marketing, the types of marketing available to a private practitioner, the pitfalls for a "newbie" and an exploration of the internal journey that goes along with putting yourself out there.

3) Personal Growth as a Sole Trader - Looking at our own personal power and authority, which we need to use in a non-dominating way.

Exploring our relationship with money. If we want our practice to replace a salaried income, we must dive into our beliefs and associations about money.
Creating a viable practice rests on our ability to build our internal support for promoting our practice in an authentic way that works for us.

CPD Certs will be emailed to participants after attendance at the Workshop

Please Note:

IACP will continue to monitor the situation about the Coronavirus and will adhere to any further recommendations issued by the HSE and/or the National Public Health Emergency Team.

Our IACP planned events will continue but we do ask any attendee, if they have recently returned from an affected area, that they do not attend these events, and to follow the advice of the HSE here.
