SERC - Contextual Conceptualisation Therapy Introduction

Presenters Bio:

Athol is a counselling psychologist with 20 years experience. In his time he has been in private practice, a student counsellor and since 2004 he has worked in teh self harm intervention programme (SHIP). SHIP is a short term counselling service aimed at people at risk of suicide or self harm. Since 2011 he has been coordinator of the service. In 2016 Athol attended a workshop on counselling suicidal clients with Fredric Matteson and James Hayes from Seattle. This has served to revolutionise his views on counselling suicidal people. Since the he has developed his study and understanding of the model which would include a 10 day stint in Seattle under the tutelage of Matteson immersing himself on the model and its application.

Presenters Bio:

Gitti has worked as a therapist in private practice since 2015. She works with adults from all walks of life and welcomes diversity in all its forms.

Gitti has a special interest in Suicide Therapy and prevention. Since 2014 Gitti is in a close working relationship with Contextual-Conceptual Therapy (CCT) founder Fredric Matteson. Twice she went to Seattle, U.S.A., to study with CCT founder, Fredric Matteson, at The Contextual-Conceptual Therapy Centre in Seattle.

Gitti has also given CCT presentations nationally and internationally, and has published an article on CCT in the IACP journal (Contextual-Conceptual Therapy – A New Approach to Suicide Therapy  Volume 19 • Issue 1 • Spring 2019)

Gitti also is a LivingWorks safeTALK Trainer and frequently delivers this free suicide awareness workshop.

Workshop Outline:

On this one day workshop participants will be introduced to the concept of Contextual Conceptual Therapy (CCT). The idea of suicide being, in the first instance, a case of mistaken identity and that the route to helping clients is not in “fixing” them or their beliefs but it lies in helping them to find themselves. We will explore what this means and look at the nature of the logic that brings them into the place of their own self deception and which ultimately to their suicidal state

CPD Certs will be emailed to participants after attendance at the Event

The Zoom Link and Password for the event will be sent at least a day in advance of the Event.
