DRC - Pluralistic Multicultural Orientation Treatment (PMCOT)

Presenters Bio:

Daryl has worked as a counsellor with different forms of diversity over the last decade. He lectures in social care and counselling and forensic psychology as well as offering CPD in several areas of therapy related to improving outcomes.

Ravind Jeawon (MIACP) is the founder of Talk Therapy Dublin. Ravind has a specific interest in Culturally Responsive Counselling, minority stress, and working with differences. He has experience working with clients from many different countries, ethnic backgrounds and minority perspectives.

Workshop Outline:

Pluralistic Multicultural Orientation Treatment (PMCOT) moves beyond the competency framework by providing a lifelong developmental trajectory, or 'way of being on the part of the practitioner. PMCOT is an attitude, offering a way to view and respond to diverse and multicultural presentations. A lens to view and engage others’ multicultural identities, values, and beliefs.
Thus, PMCOT offers a way to respond to vast diversity through the incorporation of an enquiring curiosity, where we learn from the client, not about the client, their important cultural identities.
