Presenters Bio: 

Marie O'Mahony, BSc (Hon) Counselling and Psychotherapy,
Diploma in Teaching Mindfulness-Based Interventions. I work as a Counsellor / Psychotherapist in private practice in Cork City Centre. I facilitate Mindfulness groups and guide meditation for a number of organisations, which have moved online since the beginning of the pandemic.

Workshop Outline:

It is necessary to have a working camera to allow full participation in the workshop.
It is better to log in using a laptop or a device that does not need to be held in the hand. Be in a location which is warm and comfortable.

No prior experience in Mindfulness is necessary, simply bring openness and curiosity.

An introduction to Mindfulness-Based Interventions: Mindfulness-Based Stress Reduction (MBSR), Mindfulness-Based Cognitive Therapy (MBCT). The day will give a brief overview of the development of Mindfulness-Based Interventions from the origins in Behavioural Therapy, through to Mindfulness-Based Cognitive Therapy. The training will include meditation practices and teaching skills to support participants in their work. The emphasis will be on practices used in MBCT.

This will be a gentle few hours with opportunity to interact through discussion and reflection.

At the end of the workshop participants will have some takeaway practices and useful information.
