Course outline:

Day 1 (Saturday): Introductions, current knowledge. Neurodiversity paradigm.

Day 2 (Sunday): What is autism/being autistic 1

– Myths, history, current thinking/terminology, discovery/ women …

Day 3 (Saturday): What is autism/being autistic 2

– Masking, sensory sensitivity, stimming, etc…

Day 4 (Saturday): Anxiety (Generalised, Social etc), Depression, PTSD, Eating, Disorders, OCD, low self esteem, etc…

Day 5 (Saturday): General implications for therapy/counselling/helping

 – Therapeutic environment, communication differences, structuring therapy, relevant goals, assessment/diagnosis/ discovery (for your client or for you)

Day 6 (Saturday): ADHD, Dyspraxia, EDS, gender etc… 

Day 7 (Saturday): Therapeutic approaches

– Person-Centred Therapy, Cognitive Behavioural Therapy, Acceptance & Commitment Therapy, Dialectical Behaviour Therapy, etc…

Day 8 (Saturday): Demo/practice sessions

Day 9 (Saturday): Supervision, networking, practice considerations, further CPD, etc

Day 10 (Sunday): Presentations of individual learning summary
