Joanne Hanrahan is a highly regarded speaker and practitioner in the area of Psychotherapy and Nature. As an IAHIP accredited Psychotherapist and Supervisor and a certified Trauma Specialist (SEP - Somatic Experiencing Practitioner), she brings a wealth of knowledge to her presentations.
Joanne has previously been invited as a Keynote speaker to numerous national and international conferences and training events. Her speaking engagements include notable appearances at CONFER UK ‘Psychotherapy and the Natural World’ conference in 2016, and similar CONFER conferences held in Ireland in 2018 and 2019, along with her research presentation at the IAHIP conference in 2016. More recently she has also been consulted as an expert practitioner for the EU Horizon funded 'GoGreenRoutes' project and for a European Nature Based Researchers Consortium.
Beyond her speaking engagements, Joanne is dedicated to making a difference in the field of mental health. She runs her private practice in Psychotherapy and Supervision in Co. Clare. She has developed an ecologically informed lens to her clinical practice and offers both indoor and outdoor sessions to her clients and supervisees. Joanne is the founder of 'Training, The Wild Atlantic Way', a leading training provider focused on integrating nature into therapeutic practice. Through in-person (outdoor) and online workshops, Joanne empowers mental health practitioners to embrace the therapeutic potential of nature. Her courses have also been featured on platforms like Essential Therapy Training and the Therapy Academy.
This Forum will introduce the new and rapidly growing area of Ecotherapy in the context of Psychotherapy and Supervision. It will include a mixture of formal input, group discussions, exploration of clinical vignettes and experiential outdoor exercises.
