IACP Annual Conference 2024 - Bookings are now closed

The Ninth Annual IACP Conference is being held on Saturday 20th April 2024, in the Radisson Blu Hotel, Rosses Point Sligo. 

The theme is ‘Reclaiming Voices: Reshaping Therapeutic Dialogues Beyond Oppression’, with the theme exploring colonialism in the counselling/psychotherapy context.

On Saturday night, there will be a pre-drinks reception at 7:30pm followed by the Conference Dinner from 8pm.

We have an impressive lineup of speakers that promises a rich exploration of the conference theme. 

Professor Lynne Gabriel, President, British Association of Counselling and Psychotherapy
Presentation title: Moving Beyond Oppression: The Role of Relational Ethics

Jodie McKenzie, Chief Executive Officer, Australian Counselling Association
Presentation title: Healing Echoes - Nurturing Resilience in Indigenous Trauma and Loss

Dr. Edil Torres Rivera, President, American Counseling Association
Presentation title: Decolonisation is Liberation: Operationalisation of Decolonial Model of Counselling using Liberation Psychology Principles.

Dr Ray O'Neill, Assistant Professor in Psychotherapy in the School of Nursing, Psychotherapy and Community Health, DCU
Presentation title: Fa‘Mine’: Possessions of Trauma, and Using Cultural/National Histories of Oppression to Justify the Hurting of Others.

IACP member Dil Wickremasinghe will facilitate two speaker panel sessions with Jim Hutton and Ravind Jeawon, members of our Equality, Diversity and Inclusion Committee joining the panels.

Following the conference will be the IACP Annual Awards Ceremony.


Accommodation Information

The Radisson Blu Hotel have block booked rooms for IACP members, on Friday 19th and Saturday 20th April, at the special rate of €155.00 B&B for single occupancy per night and €170.00 B&B for double/twin occupancy per night.

The hotel have agreed to honour this rate for any late bookings after the 29th March 2024.
