The course will be a mix of academic and experiential exploration of the use of metaphor in psychotherapy, utilising Power Point slides, flipped learning, workshop style discussions and demonstrations.
The objectives are as follows:
·Understand the teleological perspectives behaviours.
·Have the ability to explore the metaphorical elements of childhood thinking.
·Define the phylogenetic/dualistic ideas contained within the ‘inner child.’
·Be able to examine the concept of schemas, specifically those related to perception.
·Developing rapport with clients using the understanding of the goals of perception.
·Learn to investigate with a client the style that they move through life.
·Learn methods to offer an interpretation of ‘modus operandi’ to a client.
·Examine a client’s style of life when supporting a client to reorient within their chosen movement.
·Understand the illogical goals of behaviour and connect to the metaphors of the clients understanding.
·Have an ability to explore the ‘felt sense’ and the parallel process and use as indicator of a client’s possible ‘modus operandi’.
·Understand transference as a method of gaining understanding.
·Have a critical understanding of the concepts of trauma in relation to the Adlerian schem of apperception.
