Kate is a UKCP Registered Psychotherapist, Transactional Analyst (Psychotherapy), Supervisor and Trainer private practice based in the Elenydd, the Cambrian mountains in mid Wales. After 20 years in research and policy development, I retrained as a counsellor in 2003. She has been a BACP Accredited Counsellor since 2009 and a counselling supervisor since 2013. My background includes adult learning, counselling practice management, organisational development, research, spirituality, and community health. I specialise in change and transition, which includes exploring evolving Boundaries.
The theory of Transactional Analysis (TA) psychotherapy has emphasised clear and healthy Boundaries from its earliest days. TA theory holds that healthy boundaries are both Firm and Permeable, while unhealthy ones are either too Rigid or too Fragile. Boundaries can be limits. They can also be a liminal space between what is comfortable and familiar, and what is not yet understood. The Supervision of Psychotherapy involves exploring the edges of practice, so Boundaries are important in Supervision.
