HSE Introduction to Children First (Child Protection Training Programme in light of Enactment of the Children First Act 2015).
The training has been developed by the HSE Nationally it is hosted on HSELand* and is accessible for all staff
at: www.hesland.ie For most staff this training is undertaken via web based E Learning.
*For staff that has IT literacy concerns there is also a class based version of the training for HSE Staff.
The key learning outcomes are:
1. To increase the participant’s awareness in order to recognise, respond and report child protection
and welfare concerns.
2. To understand their responsibility as Mandated Persons under Schedule 2. of the Children First
Act (2015).
3. To understand the responsibilities on organisations working with children directly or indirectly to
safeguard children’s welfare.
4. To understand the requirements outlined in the Children First National Guidance (2017).
5. To assist the participants knowledge of reporting requirements and liaison with Statutory
agencies: Tusla, (The Child and Family Agency) and An Garda Siochána in relation to child and
welfare and protection concerns.
