Online Research Journal Club 9 - Topic: Understanding race/ethnic inequalities in severe mental illness


The research paper under discussion for our 9th Research Journal Club is “Where next for understanding race/ethnic inequalities in severe mental illness? Structural, interpersonal and institutional racism” by James Y. Nazroo, Kamaldeep S. Bhui and James Rhodes in Sociology of Health & Illness Vol. 42 No. 2 2020 pp. 262–276.


Joining Research Committee facilitators as our guest on the evening will be Dr Karen Doyle MIACP. Karen was IACP’s Research Bursary recipient in 2023. Karen selected the paper for the discussion for this Journal Club. Karen’s PhD research, which she will present on, is “Exploring the Experience of Racialization and Subsequent Experiences of Psychological Therapy for Black and Mixed-race Clients in Ireland”.
