Workshop Outline: Working with the inner child is based in physiology and psychology. It engages the limbic/emotional brain. It is here that we find the physiological impacts of childhood traumas. These impacts are not in the conscious awareness of the client. This part of the brain is activated by triggers in the present world that lead to behaviours that affect their lives negatively. In inner child work the energy of the childhood trauma is released. The client begins to connect with their authentic self in a deep way; core self-worth increases and shame is uncovered and released. The workshop is experiential, enabling therapists to experience the inner child in themselves. This experience is necessary in order to work in this way with clients.
