Aim: This workshop aims to provide participants with an initial introduction to the principles and practices of EMDR Therapy. Learning Outcomes: Participants will learn: i. How traumatic and other disturbing experiences are encoded in the brain and in the body and how they intrude on current functioning. ii. Why “talk therapy” alone is limited in its capacity to access and resolve these memories. iii. How EMDR therapy can facilitate the effective processing of traumatic or disturbing life experiences to an adaptive resolution. Workshop content: The workshop will include 1. Illustrated presentations of relevant material 2. Video demonstrations 3. Discussion and questions.
