Presenters Bio: Dr Mike Condra is an Adjunct Assistant Professor in the Department of Psychology at Queen's University and has taught in the undergraduate and graduate programs in the Department of Psychology and in the faculties of Education and Law. For more than two decades he was the Director of the Department of Health, Counselling and Disability Services at Queen's. Aside from his clinical work, he has provided consultation and advice to the university's senior administration on issues involving mental health, students/employees at risk, and lethality. For more than a decade Dr. Condra was the Coordinator of the university's Threat Assessment Team. Dr Mike Condra has extensive experience in providing public education, training workshops, and consultation on the topics of mental health, stigma-reduction, crisis-intervention, verbal de-escalation and suicide-risk assessment in Ontario and across Canada. He also co-developed the Queen’s University Crisis Intervention Institute, which provides training and consultation on Crisis Intervention; he has presented at national and international conferences on the topics of mental health, risk-assessment, and compassionate self-care. .  Over the last six years, Dr Condra has delivered workshops and training sessions on mental health and compassionate self-care to more than 4,000 people. 

Workshop Outline: 

Describing concepts such as Stress, Trauma exposure, Secondary Trauma, Vicarious Traumatization, Compassion Fatigue, Warning Signs and Resilience.

Assessing the stress factors in work (interactive)

Evaluating personal strengths and resiliency (individual and group)

Developing a personal plan for self-care (individual and interactive)

Low-impact debriefing,

 

Training Level: All Levels.

 

CPD certificates will be emailed to participants after attendance at the Workshop.
