Presenter Bio: Joe Slattery is an accredited member of the Addiction Counsellors of Ireland since 2013. He has been working in the area of family support and crisis intervention for over ten years, beginning his career working with families affected by impriosonment. For the past seven years Joe has worked directly with substance misusing clients and their families, working from a harm reduction approach in-cooperating community based supports, comprising one to one counselling and group based interventions. Joe is accredited in a number of modalities used specifically in the sphere of addiction and family support. He is a member of (MINT) Motivational Interviewing Network of Trainers, qualified in (ACRA) Adolescence Community Reinforcement Approach, 5 Step model of family support and accredited trainer in the Alternative to Violence Program. He is a training/coordinator in the delivery of the Strengthening families Programs. Joe is also the CEO of JS Equine Assisted Therapies and currently the only professional in Ireland advanced certified in the EAGALA model of equine assisted interventions. Joe is currently completing an MSc in Addiction Counselling and Psychotherapy through PCI/Middlesex University. Joe is presently active on a number of steering committees and management boards for services that support vulnerable families throughout the Midwest. He has delivered numerous talks to both community and professionals on the effects of substance abuse and effective approaches when working with this cohort. In 2018
Joe is a family man with a wife and three children; he has a passion for music and uses music as a way of self-care.
