Event Outline:
This half day workshop will introduce you to the theory and practice of Internal Family Systems (IFS), a therapeutic approach developed by Dr. Richard Schwartz over the past 40 years. Originally designed for family therapy, IFS has evolved into a comprehensive model for individual therapy that offers a unique perspective on human psychology and healing.
The central premise of IFS is that the mind is not a single, unified entity, but rather consists of multiple "parts" or subpersonalities, each with its own thoughts, feelings, motivations, and roles. These parts develop throughout life as adaptive responses to various experiences, circumstances and trauma. According to IFS theory, everyone possesses an undamaged core Self that has the capacity for leadership, compassion, and wisdom.
When our inner parts and Self work together in Self-leadership, Self can effectively lead and heal the system internally and externally, which impacts our behaviours, relationships and lives, allowing us to become more integrated and whole. In IFS all parts are welcome.
This experiential workshop will teach you how to identify, understand and work harmoniously with parts by exploring the model for yourself. You will practice mapping of parts and how to befriend the protective system, tools that you can take away to use with your clients.
This workshop is suitable for anyone who is curious about IFS and who want to learn more about it and how it can benefit themselves and their clients.
