In Person - WNWRC Working Therapeutically with Dreams and Nightmares

Presenter's Bio:

Mike is an accredited counsellor and supervisor with the Irish Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy and the founder of Introspect Counselling and Psychotherapy. In his work with clients, he is primarily pluralistic in his approach to their work together, but he also employs elements from therapeutic traditions as well as evidence-based approaches based on the needs of his clients.

Event Outline:

This will be a one day in-person CPD day providing insight on working therapeutically with dreams and nightmares. The session will be highly practical demonstrating applied techniques for working with this material. Participants will have lecturer-led input, group discussion, break-out sessions an opportunities to observe a contemporary application of dream work as well as being introduced to Imagery Rehearsal Therapy for Nightmares. This single day is an excellent opportunity for deep reflection and skills development on the role of dreams and nightmares in contemporary practice.

Dreams occur in every client, every night, multiple times per night. The same can be said for supervisors! However, since the initial surge of interest and use of dreams sparked by Freud and Jung, these days, dream work seems to have been relegated in favour of more pressing concerns in the lives of clients and therapists. Little has been written about dreams in supervision. This short one-day course will provide some practical skills and insights when working with dreams in the supervisory frame to enhance reflection and insight on what dreams tell us about supervisee/supervisee processes, supervisee/client processes and client therapist/processes. Dream research, the latest literature on the subject and case vignettes will form the information component of the short course. Participants will be asked to bring their dreams to the session to make the learning experience rich and personally insightful.

CPD Certs will be emailed to participants after attendance
