Online - NRC Network Event with Guest Speaker - Jim Hutton
Presenter's Bio:
Jim is an MIACP. He first trained as a youth worker in 1975 and as a counsellor in 1979 for couples and groups dealing with alcohol addiction. In 1981 he set up a youth support group for young people directly effected by the Stardust Fire Disaster. He spent 22 years as an advocate and life skills teacher with Youthreach, the state agency for second chance education before retiring in that role in 2021.
His further educational training included a diploma in counselling (Maynooth NUI) and an honours degree in counselling and psychotherapy (DBS). Jim has a private practice in counselling, psychotherapy and educational training with a focus on relationships , addiction, care-awareness, and LGBTQI+ issues. His client speaker portfolio includes IACP, BelonG To LGBTQI+ Youth Services, Crosscare, SOAR, Insight Matters and The Irish Defence Forces. He is a former editor, broadcast journalist and media lecturer.
Event Outline:
This event will be focusing on building relationships and connections with colleagues in Northern Ireland and Donegal. We are pleased to welcome Jim Hutton who will join us to discuss the IACP's Social and Leisure Initiative. Jim is exploring membership's appetite for the social and leisure aspect to the IACP, what it might look like, how it might be structured, what activities could be undertaken and a possible time if it were to be advances.
