Online  Research Journal Club 12 Topic: Exercise as an adjunct treatment for depression

The paper under discussion for our Summer Research Journal Club will be “Exercise as medicine for depressive symptoms? A systematic review and meta-analysis with meta-regression” by Heissel A, et al. Br J Sports Med 2023;57:1049–1057. doi:10.1136/bjsports-2022-106282

Our guest on the evening is Dr Donagh Ward (MIACP). Donagh will draw from his PhD qualitative research entitled “An exploration of Irish counsellors’ awareness of the potential benefits of physical activity as an adjunct treatment to counselling for those presenting with moderate depression or anxiety”.

What IACP members have to say about attending the RJC:

It was a fantastic session. I got so much out of it and look forward to the next one like it. Really appreciative that you organise these and find it invaluable for my practice.

This was excellent, I really enjoyed it, so well organised and made accessible, even in the introductions there was warmth and a sense of connection, I will definitely attend again – it meets my needs as a practitioner and opens the research door … thank you
