Event Outline:

This workshop explores anxiety through cognitive, behavioural, developmental, schema-focused and neuroscience perspectives, while examining how meditation, reflective practice and attentional regulation may support emotional regulation and anxiety management within evidence-informed psychotherapy.

Participants will develop a deeper understanding of the factors that contribute to the development and maintenance of anxiety and will explore the role of reflective awareness, attentional processes, self-regulation practices and mindfulness-based approaches within clinical work.

The workshop includes exploration of:

  • Cognitive, emotional, behavioural and physiological processes involved in anxiety.
    • The role of maladaptive schemas and core beliefs.
    • Neuroscience and emotional regulation.
    • Mindfulness, meditation and attentional regulation approaches.
    • Trauma-informed considerations and contraindications.
    • Ethical and professional practice considerations.
    • Clinical formulation and case study application.
    • Critical evaluation of established and emerging evidence.
    • Integration of reflective and regulation-based practices within psychotherapy frameworks.

The workshop is delivered through a structured programme of pre-recorded presentations, guided reflective exercises, case study analysis, workbook activities, experiential learning exercises and knowledge assessment.

Learning is completed independently at the participant’s own pace.
