In Person SRC Workshop: Working Therapeutically with Adult ADHD & AuDHD Clients
Presenter's Bio:
Eoin is a counsellor and trainer who has worked in the area of mental health for over 30 years, particularly focusing on issues such as social anxiety and behavioural addictions. He has also worked at a senior level in counselling/psychotherapy education and served on a number of IACP committees. He was awarded the Carl Berkeley Award in 2010. Currently his primary focus is on working with autistic adults, and on understanding the problems they face and their specific therapeutic needs. Eoin is himself autistic, having made the discovery in 2012.
Event Outline:
- Executive dysfunction
- Time management problems, including procrastination
- Rejection Sensitivity Dysphoria
- Co-occurring mental health problems: anxiety, depression, addictions
- Dealing with combination of autism & ADHD ("AuDHD")
- Incorporating coaching-style techniques
- Therapy accommodations/adaptation
- Looking at the possible role of medication
