He is an accredited member of the International Association of Logotherapy and Existential Analysis, with a particular interest in meaning-centred therapy, attachment, and trauma-informed bodywork. He has written on masculinity and psychotherapy for IJCP, and has explored Irish mythology as a resource for therapeutic work on masculine identity. He has appeared as a regular therapist on Dublin City FM discussing mental health and well-being, and has contributed articles on therapy and psychological well-being for the MyMind website. He is currently developing a full CPD training programme for counsellors and psychotherapists on working effectively with male clients, of which this workshop forms a companion strand.
Event Outline:
Men, Masculinity and Psychotherapy is a three-hour personal development workshop for practising counsellors and psychotherapists. Rather than opening with facts about male clients, the workshop begins with participants' own relationship with men, past and present, on the premise that everything a therapist offers a client passes through the therapist first.
The first two hours move through three reflective stages: the men who shaped participants personally, what they inherited from those relationships, and how that awareness shows up with their own male clients. The final hour turns to evidence, covering rites of passage and initiation in male psychological development, drawing on anthropology, clinical theory, and Irish mythology.
CPD Certs will be emailed to participants after attendance.
