Linda Breathnach MIACP Wins Prestigious IACP North East Regional Award
Honours Commitment to the Counselling and Psychotherapy Profession
At the Irish Association for Counselling and Psychotherapy (IACP) 7th Annual Conference held in the Galway Bay Hotel over the weekend, Linda Breathnach MIACP was honoured with the North East Regional Award.
The IACP Regional Awards recognise an IACP accredited member who makes a notable contribution to the profession of counselling and psychotherapy in their local community and region.
Speaking today regarding this year’s awards IACP Chief Executive Officer Lisa Molloy stated:
“I would like congratulate Linda Breathnach our North East Regional Award honouree for her passion and positive approach to promoting the benefits of counselling and psychotherapy within her region and beyond.”
Ms Breathnach is being recognised for her contributions to the North East region, including organising the first IACP North East region online get-together at the start of the pandemic. The online event supported therapists in acknowledging the enormity of the times and reminded them of the importance of minding themselves as well as their clients. Ms Breathnach went on to facilitate these events in other regions around the country and collaborated with the Addiction Counsellors of Ireland on an online event, Rethinking Addiction: Perspectives on Individual and Family Related Harms between ACI and IACP with 800 attendees.
Commenting following the award IACP member Linda Breathnach noted:
“This award is a huge honour because there are so many deserving people who do Trojan work, I never expected to be nominated. It is so lovely to be acknowledged because even though I love my work, sometimes it can be very hard. On future tough days, the award will help me to remember that what we do can make a difference and have an impact.”
Concluding Linda noted:
“None of us do this work for awards. I am so lucky that I love what I do every day.”
