Eamon Fortune Wins Prestigious IACP Western Regional Award
Honours Commitment to the Counselling and Psychotherapy Profession
At the Irish Association for Counselling and Psychotherapy (IACP) 7th Annual Conference held in the Galway Bay Hotel over the weekend, Eamon Fortune MIACP was honoured with the Western Regional Award.
The IACP Regional Awards recognise accredited members who make a notable contribution to the profession of counselling and psychotherapy in their local community, region, and beyond.
Speaking today regarding this year’s awards IACP Chief Executive Officer Lisa Molloy stated:
“I congratulate Eamon Fortune our Western Regional Award recipient for the many outstanding contributions he has made to the counselling and psychotherapy profession, especially his commitment to bringing a voice and resources to the West of Ireland.”
Eamon Fortune is an accredited IACP Counsellor/Psychotherapist and Supervisor, currently working full time as a therapist with adolescents in Limerick Youth Service as part of a Mental Health and Wellbeing Team.
Mr Fortune was instrumental and the driving force in establishing the Western Regional Committee. He recognised that support was needed for therapists in the mid-west of Ireland, to bring networking, workshops and a voice to the region.
Mr Fortune chaired the initial steering committee for a full term and then stayed on another year to support the incoming chair of the Western Regional Committee. Mr Fortune continues to volunteer his time on behalf his fellow members and was elected to the IACP Board of Directors four years ago and currently serves as the Regional Director for the last two years.
Commenting following the award IACP member Eamon Fortune stated:
“I was delighted and honoured to receive this award. It is a pleasure meeting therapists in the region, meeting them at different events and hearing what is happening in their area. It is especially rewarding to receive the award this year as it was the first time the conference and AGM was held in the Western region.”
